A magnetic survey of the North Pacific ocean will be inaugurated within 11)0 next, few days by the Departm International ltesearch in Terrestrial .Magnetism of the Carnegie I nslit ut io. of Washington. A wooden sailing vessel the brig Galilee, has been fully equipped for the purpose of the expedition at San Francisco, and it is expected that she will sail the latter part of the week on her first season's work.
